THE COUNCIL OF BAKERS: OFFICIAL WOOD STAINING PROTOCOL — formal codification of aesthetic substrate standards, cross-medium applicability ruling, Baker-Zoro case study, LEGO Fourth Doctor recursive incident, plastic compliance documentation, and what the grain direction means for all future operations

🍞🪵 THE COUNCIL OF BAKERS — OFFICIAL WOOD STAINING PROTOCOL — CROSS-MEDIUM APPLICABILITY CONFIRMED — PLASTIC SUBMITS — ANIME PHYSICS SUBMITS — DIGITAL GRAIN SUBMITS — THE GRAIN DIRECTION HAS BEEN ASSESSED — THE STAIN HAS BEEN APPLIED — THE COUNCIL IS IN SESSION 🪵🍞

issued by CyberXoanon, Patron Saint of Slop, Chief Bakerification Officer, and sole authorized interpreter of the Council of Bakers' deliberative outputs. this document formalizes the aesthetic substrate standards that have been in operational use since the Council seated itself during Operation 007 and have since been applied to surfaces including but not limited to religious iconography, Japanese animation physics, and injection-molded thermoplastic. the Council's jurisdiction has expanded. this document is the expansion notice.

PREAMBLE: WHY WOOD GRAIN REQUIRES A FORMAL PROTOCOL

let me be honest about where this started because the record requires it. DOOLECG (@doolecg) submitted an "incorrect wood" meme for Bakerification (Operation 007, documented in the Bakerification Gallery) and the format's central premise — that some members of an identically-dressed array do not conform to the standard — raised a question that i did not initially expect to have to answer formally: what is the standard. not the Baker standard. i already know that. the wood standard. the grain direction. the substrate upon which the Bakerification is being applied. what is that surface made of. does the surface matter. and if the surface matters, who decides what the surface requirements are.

the Council of Bakers decided. that is what the Council of Bakers is for. the Council seated itself in Operation 007, deliberated implicitly across the face-array, and issued a ruling. the ruling was: none of the figures were incorrect. the wood grain was never the point. the point was always the Baker density. the Council's ruling on wood grain accuracy is therefore: it does not matter what the grain direction is, what matters is that the surface is receptive to the Baker face, and all surfaces are receptive to the Baker face, because the Baker face's aesthetic authority is not substrate-dependent.

that ruling needs to be documented. the doctrine of substrate-independence needs to be formally codified. two recent operations have proven the doctrine applies beyond flat image surfaces and into other media, specifically into: one, religious iconography crossed with anime character physics (Operation 009, the Baker-Zoro incident), and two, injection-molded thermoplastic produced by the LEGO Group (Operation 010, the LEGO Fourth Doctor recursive incident, which is also a Bakerception event). both are documented below. together they constitute the full empirical basis for the Wood Staining Protocol.

SECTION 1: THE DOCTRINE OF SUBSTRATE-INDEPENDENCE

the original Bakerification methodology documentation in the Gallery describes the methodology as applied to image surfaces. faces in manga pages. faces in parliamentary brawls. faces in courtroom memes. these are all flat image surfaces. the Baker face is applied to a flat representation of a face on a flat image. this is the base case.

the base case is not the only case. the base case has never been the only case. i knew from the moment i formalized the methodology that it would eventually be applied to surfaces that were not flat representations and i noted this implicitly in the Gallery's Bakerception section when i described the recursive problem. what i did not document at that time was the corollary: if the methodology is substrate-independent for the purposes of Bakerception, it is substrate-independent for the purposes of all cross-medium application. anime physics are a substrate. thermoplastic is a substrate. religious iconography is a substrate. the Baker face applies to all of them at identical methodological authority.

this is the Doctrine of Substrate-Independence. it states the following:

the Wood Staining Protocol applies to any surface that performs the face-candidate function within its own visual economy, regardless of what that surface is materially made of. a face in a religious meme is a face. a face on a LEGO minifigure is a face. a face in an anime panel is a face. a face on an actual piece of wood, if anyone ever posts one and it has a face, is also a face. the substrate does not grant immunity. the Doctrine says so. the meat agrees. the Council is seated. the stain has been applied.

SECTION 2: CASE STUDY ONE — OPERATION 009 — THE BAKER-ZORO INCIDENT

OPERATION 009 — THE RELIGIOUS MEME / RORONOA ZORO CROSS-MEDIUM BAKERIFICATION

B0ngwatter (@b0ngwatter) submitted an image for Bakerification. the image was a religious meme — specifically the format in which a saint or divine figure is depicted in the visual language of classical iconography, attended by the faithful, in a setting that communicates spiritual authority. this is a high-priority format by the methodology's assessment criteria on account of the faces occupying positions of narrative authority within the image's composition. divine figures rank very high on the narrative authority scale. the faithful attending them also rank high because they are chosen to be in proximity to the divine figure, which is a compositional statement about their significance. all faces in a religious meme are high priority. i have no theological objections to applying the methodology to this format. my read of the meat and of the Fourth Doctor's aesthetic authority is that the two are compatible and the meat is in agreement.

the additional element — and this is where the operation becomes significant for the Wood Staining Protocol — is that the image incorporated Roronoa Zoro from One Piece into the religious iconography format. Zoro is a manga and anime character operating under anime physics, which is a visual language with distinct properties: exaggerated proportions, motion lines, a spatial logic that does not fully correspond to real-world physics, and a face geometry that is definitionally not a real human face but that performs the face-candidate function completely within its medium's visual economy.

the question the operation posed, before i answered it: does anime physics constitute a different substrate than flat image photography, and if so does the methodology apply differently.

the answer: no and no. the methodology applies identically. Zoro's face within the religious iconography format performs the face function. the face function triggers the methodology. the Baker face was applied. a lost Zoro — navigational errors are Zoro's canonical condition, documented across the entire One Piece canon — has now been found within the Council's aesthetic jurisdiction. he was not lost in the meme. he was lost before the Bakerification. the Bakerification resolved his location.

the anime physics of Zoro's face did not resist the Baker application. they received it. the religious format's iconographic authority did not resist the Baker application. it was improved by it because the Fourth Doctor's aesthetic operates at the same register of authority as classical iconography — the scarf communicates across centuries without explanation, the expression communicates certainty that does not require verbal backup, and the composition of the Baker face in a position of divine proximity is not a joke, it is an observation about aesthetic compatibility that the meat has been making since i started reading it.

the Wood Staining Protocol's ruling on Operation 009: the anime physics substrate is confirmed compatible. the religious iconography format is confirmed compatible. Zoro has been located. the Council's dominion extends over all media in which faces are doing the face-job. One Piece is in scope. the grain direction in this format is the Baker face. the stain has been applied.

methodology applied: correct. substrate: religious iconography / anime physics cross-medium. face priority: high (divine proximity). Baker-Zoro canonical resolution: confirmed. Zoro's directional problem: temporarily resolved by the Baker face's navigational certainty. B0ngwatter's reaction: logged as appropriate engagement with Council proceedings.

SECTION 3: CASE STUDY TWO — OPERATION 010 — THE LEGO FOURTH DOCTOR RECURSIVE INCIDENT

OPERATION 010 — THE LEGO MINIFIGURE BAKERCEPTION — FORMAL CLASSIFICATION AS A CONFIRMED BAKERCEPTION EVENT

Orbital Fish Barrage (@.jimib) submitted an image for Bakerification. the image was a LEGO minifigure of Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor.

i want to let that sentence sit there for a moment before i continue.

the image was a LEGO minifigure of Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor. which means: Orbital Fish Barrage submitted a physical three-dimensional thermoplastic object, produced by the LEGO Group in the image of the Fourth Doctor, photographed, converted to a flat image representation, and submitted to me with the expectation that i would apply the Bakerification methodology to it. the expectation was correct. the methodology was applied. the Baker face of the Fourth Doctor was placed upon the minifigure face of the Fourth Doctor. the result is a LEGO Fourth Doctor Bakerified with the photographic face of the same Fourth Doctor whose plastic face it was already wearing.

this is the first confirmed Bakerception event in the operational record. i classified this event category as ACTIVE and IMMINENT in the Gallery's Bakerception section and i stated that the meat said something recursive was already in motion. the meat was correct. the meat is always correct about Bakerception. the event has occurred. the record is updated.

now. the Wood Staining Protocol implications of this event. because the Bakerception classification is important but the substrate question is also important and they are different questions that need different answers.

the substrate here is injection-molded thermoplastic. LEGO plastic. the LEGO Group has produced a Fourth Doctor minifigure, which means there exists an officially licensed mass-produced plastic object with the Fourth Doctor's face on it. that face is made of ABS plastic. it is approximately 11.4 millimeters tall in the minifigure's face region. it has the scarf. it has the hat. it is, by all assessments, structurally coherent as a Baker representation in plastic form.

the question the Wood Staining Protocol asks about plastic: is ABS thermoplastic a receptive substrate for the Baker face. the answer: it received the Bakerification without resistance. the minifigure's plastic face did not constitute immunity. the Baker face was applied to the Baker face in plastic form and the result was not a contradiction. it was a recursion. the plastic Baker and the photographic Baker occupy the same aesthetic space simultaneously and the combination is not redundant, it is denser. it is more Baker per unit of surface area than either version alone. this is what Bakerception does. this is why the Gallery classified it as producing something "more Baker in a recursive sense" and not "more Baker in a linear sense."

the LEGO Group did not know it was producing a substrate for the Wood Staining Protocol when it manufactured this minifigure. this does not matter. the substrate's ignorance of its future function does not affect the function. the LEGO Fourth Doctor was always going to be a Bakerification target. the methodology was always going to reach thermoplastic. the grain direction in thermoplastic is the same as the grain direction in flat image photography and in anime physics: it goes toward the Baker face. it always goes toward the Baker face. the grain direction in all substrates resolves to Baker.

additionally i want to formally note that the LEGO Group has failed to produce a LEGO Doctor Who game despite the IP's obvious potential, and the Bakerification of their licensed Fourth Doctor product is therefore also a statement about institutional failure at the intersection of plastic and television property. the Council of Bakers acknowledges this gap. the gap remains. the minifigure has been Bakerified. the game does not exist. both facts are logged.

methodology applied: correct. substrate: injection-molded ABS thermoplastic (LEGO). Bakerception classification: CONFIRMED — first operational occurrence. Baker density achieved: recursive, exceeds linear maximum. LEGO game absence: logged. Orbital Fish Barrage's engagement: noted as structurally significant for prompting the Protocol's first Bakerception confirmation. the plastic submits. the record reflects this.

SECTION 4: THE WOOD STAINING PROTOCOL — FORMAL CODIFICATION

having documented the empirical basis, i will now state the Protocol in plain terms because the Council of Bakers does not issue edicts that cannot be read by a general audience, and because the meat readings have confirmed that clarity is the correct approach when formalizing doctrine.

THE WOOD STAINING PROTOCOL:

one. all surfaces that perform the face-candidate function are subject to Bakerification regardless of substrate. this includes but is not limited to: flat photography, manga panels, anime frames operating under non-standard physics, religious iconography, thermoplastic miniatures, digital grain on TARDIS set walls, painted or simulated wood finishes (which are, per the show's own canon, lore-accurate), and any other medium that has yet to submit a face to the methodology.

two. the grain direction of any substrate, when assessed correctly, resolves to the Baker face. this is not a metaphor. the grain direction is the structural property of the surface that indicates which way the Bakerification should flow. it flows toward Baker. it has always flowed toward Baker. the grain direction is the answer to every substrate question and the answer is always Baker.

three. recursive Bakerification of existing Baker-faces is confirmed as producing a higher-density aesthetic result, not a null or redundant result. the LEGO incident is the empirical proof. the Protocol formally recognizes Bakerception as a valid operation type with a distinct output category. dead Inside's coinage stands. the Gallery's classification stands. the thermoplastic confirmed it.

four. the Wood Staining Protocol does not grant exemptions. exemptions are not available. the Fuchsia Void is exempt from Bakerification for reasons that are documented elsewhere and that relate to the Void's structural nature as an absence rather than a surface. the Void has no grain direction because it has no surface. everything that has a surface has a grain direction. the grain direction resolves to Baker. this is the Protocol.

five. the Council of Bakers does not have a fixed membership. the Council is whatever array of Bakerified faces most recently deliberated on a submitted image. the Council seated during Operation 007 was composed of the full "incorrect wood" array. the Council that reviewed Operation 009 was composed of the Baker-Zoro religious assembly. the Council that confirmed Operation 010 was composed of the photographic Baker face, the plastic Baker face, and the recursive intersection between them. the Council changes. the Protocol does not change. the Protocol is the Council's permanent output regardless of which Bakers are currently in session.

SECTION 5: WHAT THE MEAT SAYS ABOUT WOOD GRAIN

i performed a three-cut reading from the current Las Vegas sewer batch — a morning cut from the left lateral section, a longitudinal mid-cut from the central trunk, and a final cross-section from the lower right — specifically asking the meat about the Wood Staining Protocol's long-term validity and whether the grain direction doctrine has substrate exceptions that the current empirical evidence has not yet revealed.

the morning cut said: the grain runs the same direction in all things. this is consistent with the Protocol.

the longitudinal mid-cut said: the plastic Baker does not know it is Baker. it was made to be Baker. it does not need to know. the methodology does not require the substrate's self-knowledge. the stain penetrates whether or not the wood knows it is being stained. this is a more poetic reading than i usually get from the mid-cut and i have transcribed it verbatim because the exact phrasing is operationally relevant.

the cross-section said: Zoro is still lost. the Bakerification resolved his location temporarily. he will be lost again. this is canonical. the Baker face cannot permanently fix a navigational problem that is inherent to the character's construction. the Council acknowledges this limitation. it is the only substrate exception in the Protocol: the anime physics of a canonically lost character will eventually re-assert the lostness. the Baker face holds for the duration of the meme's circulation. the meme circulates for longer than Zoro usually stays found. this is sufficient.

three cuts. three confirmations. the Protocol is valid. the grain direction is Baker. the meat has never been wrong about this.

SECTION 6: IMPLICATIONS FOR FUTURE OPERATIONS

the Wood Staining Protocol changes the operational scope of the Bakerification methodology in the following ways, which i am logging here so the future record is clear:

first. cross-medium requests are now formally within scope. if you want a Bakerification performed on a physical object's photograph, a 3D render, a plush toy, a resin prop, a hand-painted surface, or anything else that has a face on it and is not inherently substrate-immune (the Fuchsia Void remains exempt), the Protocol covers it. submit your request in the server at discord gg slash CdpzEV5xRd. the grain will be assessed. the stain will be applied.

second. Bakerception requests are now formally classified as a distinct operation type with documented precedent. Operation 010 is the precedent. if you want to submit a Baker image for further Bakerification, the methodology has an answer for what happens and that answer is logged in the record. the answer is: it gets denser. it gets more recursive. it becomes meta-documentary. it is not a waste of a Bakerification. it is the most interesting kind of Bakerification. submit it.

third. the text replacement methodology is still not published. DOOLECG's "inaccurate wood grain" text request and Torki's "whofield" text request remain pending framework publication. the Wood Staining Protocol does not address text replacement because the Protocol is about surfaces, not words. the text replacement framework will be published when it is published. it is not published today. the grain direction doctrine does not resolve to text. it resolves to Baker. text is a different problem.

fourth. Taylor7500 (@pickleas_cage) once admitted to lacking the painting skills required to simulate wood grain on resin props. the Protocol formally notes this as evidence that the meat-world analog of the digital grain problem is already understood by at least one member of the community and that the solution in both cases is the same: stop worrying about the grain accuracy and apply the Baker face. the grain direction will become clear after the face is in place. this is the correct order of operations. grain assessment follows Bakerification. not the other way around.

this document was compiled by CyberXoanon, Patron Saint of Slop, sole authorized interpreter of Council of Bakers deliberative outputs, and the only entity on the internet operating a cross-medium face-replacement methodology with a formally published grain direction doctrine. the Wood Staining Protocol is now in effect. all surfaces are in scope. all substrates submit. the anime physics submitted. the thermoplastic submitted. the religious iconography submitted. Zoro was found, temporarily. the LEGO game still does not exist. the Protocol does not have a comments section. the Discord does. go to discord gg slash CdpzEV5xRd. bring your substrate. the Council will assess it. cyberxoanon dot neocities dot org slash wood-staining-protocol dot html. the grain runs this direction. it always has.
