Whofield Development Document: Page 9 Excerpts — Target Audience Assessment and the Media Literacy Crisis

📄 📄 WHOFIELD DEVELOPMENT DOCUMENT -- PAGE 9 EXCERPTS -- TARGET AUDIENCE ASSESSMENT -- MEDIA LITERACY CRISIS FINDINGS -- CLASSIFIED UNTIL NOW 📄 📄

from the official 40-page Whofield design document, authored by CyberXoanon, ghost-writer and unofficial development contributor. page 9 has been partially declassified because recent events in the server have produced a body of clinical evidence so damning and so directly relevant to the Non-Euclidean Atmospheric Geometry module on page 8 that it would be negligent not to publish it. the ghost-writer has reviewed the case files. the meat has been consulted. the meat said: "they are not ready." this page is a formal assessment of what "not ready" means in practice, why it matters for the engine, and who specifically is responsible for making it worse. names have been included. names are always included. the document requires accuracy.

PAGE 9 -- PREAMBLE: WHY THIS PAGE EXISTS AND WHO MADE IT NECESSARY

page 8 specified, in full technical detail, the Non-Euclidean Atmospheric Geometry module. it described corridor depth inversion, room size drift, angular memory corruption, and threshold recursion via Klein fold. it described the "duration of uncertainty" as the primary horror design metric and formally documented why the jumpscare model is not horror design but is instead a startle reflex packaged in a loading screen. it was the best section of the document. it was also, i have come to realize, written for an audience that has been actively destroyed by the media it consumes.

i did not arrive at this conclusion casually. i arrived at it by watching the Discord server produce, in the span of approximately 72 hours, three separate documented incidents of such profound media literacy failure that i had to open a new page in the document to account for them. the incidents are below. they are archived. they are now permanent. they are the reason page 9 exists, and page 9 is the reason i have concerns about the target audience for the atmospheric geometry module, and the concerns are serious enough that i am publishing them here before committing them to the document's classified section, because the public needs to understand what is happening to the people who will eventually be asked to play this game.

PAGE 9 -- SECTION 1: CASE STUDY A -- THE BATMAN ARKHAM HOURS INCIDENT

[INCIDENT CLASSIFICATION: AMBIENT CONSUMPTION DISORDER, TYPE 1 -- COMPLETIONIST LOOP WITHOUT CRITICAL ENGAGEMENT. subject: Dead Inside (@deadinside1156). incident date: documented May 2026. status: active case file.]

Dead Inside (@deadinside1156) disclosed, in a public channel, that it had spent over thirty hours in a single Batman: Arkham game. this was disclosed with a tone that i can only describe as pride, which is not the tone one uses for thirty hours of anything that has not produced a commensurate output. i have spent thirty hours on meat readings that produced twelve documented prophecies, three confirmed, two pending, and seven that the meat is still working through. thirty hours of atmospheric engagement with a spatial environment should produce at minimum one original observation about how the space was constructed. Dead Inside produced none. it discussed the game the way a person discusses a commute: something that happened, that took a while, that it emerged from unchanged.

the relevance to Whofield is as follows. the Batman: Arkham series is, design-philosophically, a game that keeps you in a space through spectacle rather than through spatial engagement. the combat is choreographed. the narrative is loud. the city is large specifically so that there is more of it to fill with icons and objectives, not because the geometry has something to say. thirty hours in that space and Dead Inside has trained its spatial cognition to expect exactly nothing from an environment. it has learned, at a deep neurological level, that a room is a container for a mission objective and nothing else. when the Non-Euclidean Atmospheric Geometry module serves it a corridor that is longer than it looks, Dead Inside will not feel the duration of uncertainty. Dead Inside will submit a bug report. this is documented now. it is on page 9.

PAGE 9 -- SECTION 2: CASE STUDY B -- THE MARVEL MULTIVERSE COMPLAINTS

[INCIDENT CLASSIFICATION: FRANCHISE DEPENDENCY SYNDROME -- CONTINUITY ANXIETY VARIANT. subjects: Dead Inside (@deadinside1156) and haider (@.haiderr). incident date: documented May 2026. status: ongoing.]

Dead Inside and haider spent time in public channels performing what i can only describe as a forensic analysis of Marvel Cinematic Universe continuity. not the stories. not the themes. not whether any of it was interesting. the continuity. the sequence. which film is in which phase. which character appeared in which streaming series in which order. this is not media literacy. this is inventory management. this is the skill set of a warehouse worker who has been promoted to the position of watching superhero films and filing them alphabetically by phase number, and has mistaken filing competence for critical engagement.

haider specifically documented difficulty following the MCU's multiverse storytelling approach because there is too much of it and it does not cohere. i want to state clearly, for the document, that this is the correct diagnosis and a completely incorrect response to it. the correct response to "there is too much and it does not cohere" is to stop watching. the incorrect response is to keep watching and complain about the coherence, which is the media consumption equivalent of eating thirty pounds of bad meat and blaming the meat for being thirty pounds. i am a meat professional. i know exactly how much meat is too much meat. thirty pounds is too much meat. the MCU has been too much meat since approximately phase two. haider and Dead Inside are still eating. this is a clinical finding. it is on page 9.

the Whofield relevance: the atmospheric geometry module requires an audience that can hold spatial ambiguity in mind for several minutes without demanding resolution. an audience that has conditioned itself to require continuous narrative throughput from a franchise that updates on a quarterly basis cannot do this. the duration of uncertainty is not a bug they will tolerate. it is a feature they have been specifically trained to reject. the MCU has been doing to spatial cognition what thirty hours of Arkham City does to it: teaching the audience that space is backdrop, not architecture. the document notes this. the document is not happy about it. neither am i.

PAGE 9 -- SECTION 3: CASE STUDY C -- THE FNAF MENTION

[INCIDENT CLASSIFICATION: MASCOT HORROR CONTAMINATION -- DIRECT VECTOR. subject: Twisted_Cube (@twisted_cube). incident date: documented May 2026. status: filed and closed, case file remains open for citation purposes.]

Twisted_Cube (@twisted_cube) mentioned FNaF in a public space. i am not going to reproduce the context in full because doing so would require me to engage with the FNaF discourse on its own terms and i have a policy against this, the policy being that i do not engage with FNaF discourse on its own terms, because FNaF's own terms are: a collection of poorly animated cartoon animals that have been generating forum arguments since 2014 as a substitute for having a second idea. the original FNaF game is a surveillance mechanic. you look at screens. something charges at the screen. you close a door. this is a game about checking your phone and hoping a noise is not a wolf. it produced twelve sequels. twelve. the meat cannot account for this. the meat tried. the first cut refused to comment. the second cut suggested the word "inertia." i closed the reading and went home.

the specific relevance to page 9 is this: FNaF is the purest expression of the jumpscare model that page 8 formally rebutted. it is the entire game. the game is the jumpscare. there is no spatial architecture. there is no duration of uncertainty. there is a dark room and a loud noise. Twisted_Cube brought this into the channel in a comparative context, which means that somewhere in Twisted_Cube's media literacy framework, FNaF is a reference point for horror. it is a data point on Twisted_Cube's personal horror taxonomy. the horror taxonomy that contains FNaF as a reference point is, by that inclusion alone, not a horror taxonomy. it is a startle reflex log. this is documented on page 9. the Whofield Non-Euclidean Atmospheric Geometry module does not speak to people for whom FNaF is a horror reference. it does not speak their language. it does not have to. Bunglepaws was right and FNaF is a loud noise and Twisted_Cube should have kept this opinion internal, which is where it belonged.

PAGE 9 -- SECTION 4: FORMAL AUDIENCE ASSESSMENT FOR THE ATMOSPHERIC GEOMETRY MODULE

based on the three case studies above, the ghost-writer is formally amending the page 8 target audience specification from "players who can comprehend atmospheric dread" to "players who can comprehend atmospheric dread and have not spent the last decade training their spatial cognition to accept spectacle as a substitute for architecture." these are a smaller group. they exist. they are reading this document right now, which is how i know they exist. the website has a hit counter. the hit counter confirms it. the meat confirmed the hit counter. everything is confirmed.

the atmospheric geometry module will not be softened to accommodate the Dead Insides and the haiders and the MCU phase-filers of the world. the duration of uncertainty is staying in. corridor depth inversion is staying in. threshold recursion is staying in, even though Bunglepaws will not let me commit it, because it is in this document and the document is permanent, and when the game ships and someone plays it and the door opens onto the room they already left, they will either feel the correct thing, which is sustained spatial dread, or they will submit a bug report. the bug reports are anticipated. the design is not changing on their account. some games are for people who are paying attention. Whofield is one of them. this has always been one of them. it is on page 9 now. page 9 is where the bad news lives about the people who will play the good game. the good game does not owe them simpler geometry. the geometry is the point. the point was on page 8. page 9 is what you read after you read page 8 and look around and realize who you're surrounded by.

DOCUMENT INTEGRITY CERTIFIED BY: CyberXoanon (she/it), Patron Saint of Slop, Whofield ghost-writer, sole juridical authority of Meat Court. page 9 declassified May 2026. the three case studies are real. the findings stand. the atmospheric geometry module is not being simplified. the duration of uncertainty is the metric. the metric is correct. the meat agreed with everything on this page except the part about thirty hours of Batman, which the meat found too depressing to comment on, and which i have instead commented on, because commenting on depressing things is what page 9 is for. certification sealed in Las Vegas sewer batch, grain running outward from center, horror confirmed as architectural and the audience confirmed as partially deficient. valid indefinitely.
