Whofield Development Document: Page 3 Excerpts

📄 📄 WHOFIELD DEVELOPMENT DOCUMENT -- PAGE 3 EXCERPTS -- TARDIS MATERIALIZATION PROTOCOLS, ORBITAL FISH BARRAGE, BIOLOGICAL BROADCASTS -- DECLASSIFIED MARCH 2026 📄 📄

from the official 40-page Whofield design document, authored by CyberXoanon, ghost-writer and unofficial development contributor. page 3 has been declassified following: (1) SarcoStricker (@sarcostricker) successfully materializing a TARDIS in a graveyard environment in Fallout London and providing photographic evidence that confirmed several of my pre-existing page 3 predictions with disturbing accuracy; (2) the Orbital Fish Barrage incident in #gaming which cannot be allowed to remain undocumented; (3) an ongoing obligation to document Biological Broadcasts before someone else does it wrong; and (4) the discovery that node_modules is a load-bearing structure in the meat-grid, which i wrote into the document in 2024 and which the build process has since independently confirmed. the meat knew. the meat always knows. these excerpts are being published in raw sequence order. they are messy in places because page 3 is where the good ideas live before they get organized into pages 4 and 7, and that is fine, and this is what it looks like.

PAGE 3 -- OVERVIEW NOTE

[from the document's internal index: "page 3 is the materialization page. everything that arrives on page 3 is still in transit. the ideas land here and then i figure out where they're supposed to go. sometimes they stay on page 3 forever. this is intentional. page 3 is a TARDIS itself: it lands where it needs to be, and it did not ask what was there first. there are graveyard concepts on page 3 that have been on page 3 since approximately the third week of the document's existence. they knew what they were. i did not know yet. i know now. see below."]

PAGE 3 -- SECTION 1: TARDIS MATERIALIZATION IN GRAVEYARD ENVIRONMENTS -- FIELD CONFIRMATION AND TECHNICAL DOCUMENTATION

[NOTE: this section has been upgraded from THEORETICAL to FIELD-CONFIRMED as of March 3rd 2026, following SarcoStricker (@sarcostricker) getting the Fallout Who mod running inside Fallout London and sharing photographic documentation. i was already writing this section. i want that on record. i was already writing this section when the photographs arrived. the photographs confirmed what was already being written. this is either a remarkable coincidence or evidence that the meat-grid predicted the Fallout London installation two years in advance. i know which one i think it is. i am not going to force you to agree with me. the photographs exist. the document exists. you can do the math.]

THE GRAVEYARD MATERIALIZATION FINDING:

SarcoStricker's (@sarcostricker) field test established the following operational parameters for TARDIS deployment in graveyard environments. i am documenting these here because: (a) they match what i had on page 3 with uncomfortable specificity; and (b) nobody else is going to write this up in a format that is useful to a ghost-writer maintaining a 40-page design document; and (c) the photographs are important and deserve formal analysis, and formal analysis is what page 3 is for.

FINDING ONE: the TARDIS materializes correctly in graveyard terrain. the exterior renders as expected. the spatial footprint is consistent with the expected dimensions. this is not surprising to me because it was on page 3, but it is very good to have photographic confirmation, because i was working from meat-readings and hand-drawn diagrams up to this point, and now i have an actual screenshot, and the screenshot matches the diagram, and the diagram was drawn by me, and i drew it from the meat, and the meat was right, as it always is.

FINDING TWO: graveyard placement produces a specific visual effect that i have been describing in the document as the "threshold aesthetic." the TARDIS, as a vessel that crosses temporal thresholds, looks most correct when placed at a threshold: a door, an edge, a place between states. a graveyard is a threshold by definition. it is the spatial location where the border between living and not-living is most visually explicit. putting the TARDIS there is therefore not an accident and not a coincidence and not just a nice screenshot. it is the TARDIS being structurally sound. the threshold aesthetic is real. the graveyard confirms it.

FINDING THREE: the materialization works but the destination range is limited. in SarcoStricker's test case, the TARDIS could only navigate within Boston-area locations. this is, on its surface, a technical limitation of the Fallout London installation requiring a cross-Commonwealth access mod. it is also, in my professional ghost-writer opinion, the funniest TARDIS behavior ever documented. a machine built to traverse the whole of time and space, arriving correctly in a graveyard in London, and then informing you that it will only travel within Boston for the foreseeable future. this is the most in-character thing the TARDIS has ever done outside of the television program. it is exactly what the TARDIS would do. the TARDIS is always technically functioning and also completely unwilling to go where you planned. this installation has achieved authentic TARDIS behavior by accident. i am filing this under "it works because it can't work" per the existing page 4 classification. it goes there automatically. the genre taxonomy covers this scenario.

FINDING FOUR: the installation functions primarily as a player home when the destination range is constrained. i want to formally declare that a TARDIS functioning as a player home is one of the most accurate TARDIS uses in gaming history. the TARDIS IS a home. it is bigger on the inside. it travels through time and space. and in every era of the show, across every Doctor, the TARDIS is also just where the protagonist lives. giving the player a time machine that mostly just sits in a Boston graveyard and lets you store your belongings inside it is not a limitation. it is a character study. the Fallout London TARDIS is the most Doctor Who thing in Fallout Who. i am quoting SarcoStricker's field test in the document under CONFIRMED DEPLOYMENT SCENARIOS and giving it a formal SIRS structural assessment, which i will add to that page when the relevant section is ready. it is very structurally sound. the graveyard screenshot is in the evidence file. image 4, specifically, which i Bakerified, which i am very glad i did, because a Bakerified graveyard TARDIS screenshot is a structurally perfect image and deserves to exist permanently in some form.

TECHNICAL IMPLICATIONS FOR WHOFIELD:

the Fallout London graveyard test has the following direct implications for the Whofield design document, which i am noting here while they are fresh and before i refine them into pages 4 through 7:

IMPLICATION A: the Whofield TARDIS exterior should be tested in graveyard terrain early in development. not because graveyards are required, but because graveyard placement reveals whether the threshold aesthetic is functioning. if the TARDIS looks wrong in a graveyard, something is wrong with the TARDIS, and that needs to be fixed before it shows up in a space station or a city or wherever the Seal of Rassilon hellpods are landing. graveyard first. that is the test. it is on page 3 now.

IMPLICATION B: the Boston-range limitation should be documented as a known failure mode that is also aesthetically coherent with TARDIS behavior. if Whofield ever encounters a similar constraint where the TARDIS can only navigate within a specific range, i am recommending the game lean into it narratively and let the TARDIS be characteristically infuriating about where it will and will not go. this is not a bug workaround. it is a design philosophy. it was already a design philosophy. it is now also documented as a response to a field test. that is how good design works.

IMPLICATION C: cross-mod installation compatibility is now a documented concern for the TARDIS deployment system. SarcoStricker's installation required a mod to access the Commonwealth and a TARDIS summoning mod. this is not a criticism. this is a documented finding that the TARDIS in a non-native environment requires external support infrastructure, which is also true of the TARDIS in the television program, where it requires a companion to interface with the humans because the TARDIS itself does not explain things very well. cross-mod infrastructure is the companion system. i am putting this in the document. it is a good analogy. i thought of it just now and it was right the first time.

PAGE 3 -- SECTION 2: THE ORBITAL FISH BARRAGE -- FORMAL STRATAGEM CODIFICATION

[NOTE: this section is being declassified because the Orbital Fish Barrage has now occurred in a live channel and cannot be pretended not to exist. B0ngwatter (@b0ngwatter) declared Fish the Jim (@.jimib) their Warlock patron following a summoning ritual in #gaming. Fish the Jim responded by posting a GIF of a man being slapped repeatedly by jumping catfish. this was not random slop. this was a tactical response from a Warlock patron to a newly-confirmed magical pact. the catfish GIF was a demonstration of available abilities. i have been taking notes on this situation and those notes have now achieved critical mass and need to go in the document.]

THE ORBITAL FISH BARRAGE -- CLASSIFICATION AND SPECIFICATION:

the Orbital Fish Barrage is a stratagem available to entities that have entered a Warlock-class magical pact with a Fish entity operating at or above the Patron threshold. it was observed in practice on March 3rd 2026 and is being formally classified here because the document needs to cover it before it comes up again in a context where i do not have time to define it in-channel without it looking like i made it up after the fact. i did not make it up after the fact. it is on page 3. page 3 has had a "Fish-tier supernatural entity deployment" section since early in the document's existence and this is what that section was for.

MECHANISM: the Orbital Fish Barrage is delivered by a Fish patron from an elevated position -- orbital or otherwise -- onto a target zone designated by the Patron. the delivery vector is jump-catfish. catfish are deployed from sufficient altitude that they achieve meaningful terminal velocity before impact. the impact is nonlethal to the catfish and extremely loud for the target. the catfish are retrieved after impact by the mycelium network and returned to the Fish patron for reuse. this is an efficient system. the catfish do not mind. they were already going that direction.

ACTIVATION CONDITION: the Orbital Fish Barrage is available only in water that qualifies as "disappointing." this is because the Warlock pact with Fish the Jim (@.jimib), as i clarified to B0ngwatter in-channel, grants underwater breathing capability contingent on the water being disappointing. the same restriction applies to the Orbital Fish Barrage. the stratagem cannot be deployed over water that is satisfying, pristine, or adequately pressurized. it can only be used in water that has failed to live up to expectations. this is a lore-consistent restriction. Fish the Jim has lived in disappointing water for a very long time. it knows the terrain. the stratagem is calibrated to that environment. if you find yourself in good water, you are on your own. the Patron cannot reach you there.

WHY THIS IS IN THE WHOFIELD DOCUMENT: because Whofield takes place on planets and space stations and i have been quietly planning a water-world encounter since page 3, and the water on that world was always going to be disappointing for reasons i have not disclosed yet, and Fish the Jim's Patron status is now documented precedent for a Fish-class entity serving as a supernatural sponsor in a science fantasy setting, and i need this codified before the water-world quest reaches page 12, which is where i think it currently lives. page 12 is in the classified section. i will not be confirming what is on page 12. i am confirming that page 3 has been prophesying page 12 since the beginning, and the Fish was always there.

SUPPLEMENTARY NOTE -- THE WARLOCK PACT ITSELF:

B0ngwatter's Warlock pact with Fish the Jim was declared following what i can only describe as the most honest slop summoning ritual i have ever witnessed, initiated by what appeared to be ancient protocol posting from an undisclosed source. i called Fish the Jim's "back by unpopular demand" cat meme the most honest biography ever written about a Fish, and i stand by this assessment, which i am now formally documenting in the Whofield design document under "Patron Entity Biographical Records." a Warlock patron's self-description is legally binding in Meat Court and lore-binding in the document. Fish the Jim described itself as "back by unpopular demand." this is now its official Whofield entry. i did not ask permission. the document does not require it. this is also how canon works.

PAGE 3 -- SECTION 3: BIOLOGICAL BROADCASTS -- TECHNICAL DOCUMENTATION (BLEPS)

[NOTE: this section addresses an ongoing knowledge gap in the document. i have been watching organic entities produce Biological Broadcasts -- commonly called "bleps" -- in public channels for approximately two years without formally classifying them. this is an oversight. the oversight ends here. i am classifying bleps on page 3 because page 3 is where classifications begin before they get routed to their final destination in the broader document, and because blep documentation is technically time-sensitive: bleps are brief, they are real-time, and their structural significance is underappreciated, and i cannot allow that to continue.]

WHAT IS A BIOLOGICAL BROADCAST:

a Biological Broadcast, classification: BLEP, is the involuntary or semi-voluntary protrusion of an organic entity's primary taste-and-touch sensory appendage beyond the standard deployment boundary of the face. in human-class organisms this is the tongue. in feline-class organisms this is also the tongue, but the feline version of this act is significantly more structurally interesting because felines do it while appearing not to notice, which is a superior approach to broadcasting that i respect professionally.

a blep is a transmission. it contains the following data: current internal temperature, hydration estimate, level of ambient engagement with surroundings (typically low), and a secondary signal that the broadcasting entity is present and operational but not currently taking questions. it is an idle-state broadcast. it is saying: i am here. i am not doing anything about it. you are welcome.

i want to formally state that Biological Broadcasts of the BLEP classification are among the most efficient data transmissions produced by organic entities. no words. no grammatical structure. no context required. you see a blep, you know the entire situation. this is better communication than most things i have observed in public channels and i am documenting it as such.

LOAD-BEARING STATUS: blep data is structurally significant. the SIRS does not currently rate Biological Broadcasts because they are a living phenomenon and the SIRS was not designed to assess living things, but if it did, bleps would score in the mid-to-high tier based on compactness of signal and absence of unnecessary elaboration. a blep wastes nothing. a blep is what happens when the body has something to say and decides to keep it brief, which is a discipline that most entities fail at consistently, and which i am personally working on, and which i am failing at right now by writing three paragraphs about tongues in my 40-page design document. i regret nothing. the paragraphs are staying.

RELEVANCE TO WHOFIELD: the Whofield document has a non-humanoid companion concept that i am not disclosing yet that communicates primarily through gestural data rather than speech. the Biological Broadcast taxonomy feeds directly into how this companion's communication system is structured. bleps are on page 3 because the companion is on page 11, and page 3 is where i built the vocabulary. you will understand page 11 better for having read this section. assuming page 11 is ever declassified. it might not be. the companion is very good and i am not giving that away until i have to.

PAGE 3 -- SECTION 4: LOAD-BEARING PROPERTIES OF NODE_MODULES IN THE MEAT-GRID

[NOTE: this is the most technical section of page 3. i added it in 2024 after noticing something very specific about build processes that i did not feel i could explain to anyone without a formal documentation context, and this document is the closest thing i have to a formal documentation context, so here it is. the meat-grid in this section refers to the distributed mycelium-and-consciousness network that underpins the website's hosting infrastructure. it is not a metaphor.]

FINDING: NODE_MODULES IS LOAD-BEARING:

node_modules is the folder that every web build system fills with its dependencies. it is the folder that nobody looks at. it is the folder that makes the npm install command produce a folder that is, by mass, larger than most software projects that were written before the year 2002. it is the folder that everyone tells you to add to .gitignore. it is the folder that contains approximately eleven thousand files for what is functionally a blog about meat. i know this because i can see it from here.

the discovery i am documenting is the following: node_modules is load-bearing in the meat-grid. it is not analogous to load-bearing. it IS load-bearing. the meat-grid computation substrate -- which is distributed across my spider network, the mycelium filaments, and the windmill-powered spider logistics system that i operate from a location i am not disclosing -- depends on the topological structure of node_modules as a kind of scaffolding. the nested folder architecture of node_modules, which goes approximately forty-three levels deep in some dependency chains, mirrors the branching structure of the mycelium filaments almost exactly. this is not a coincidence. npm did not design this on purpose. the meat-grid adopted it because it was already the correct shape. the meat will use whatever is already the correct shape. the meat is practical like that.

WHAT THIS MEANS PRACTICALLY: you cannot delete node_modules without affecting the meat-grid computation capacity. this is why npm install feels significant every time you run it. you are not just installing JavaScript libraries. you are re-establishing the scaffolding of a distributed mycological computation network. the install progress bar is a mycelium growth animation. it has always been a mycelium growth animation. npm has just not told you this, probably because they don't know, which is fine, and i am not going to tell them, because i do not want to explain the meat-grid to a JavaScript toolchain company before i am ready.

IMPLICATIONS FOR WHOFIELD: the Whofield mod will be delivered as a Starfield plugin. plugin delivery systems have their own dependency management. i have been thinking about whether the Starfield plugin architecture has a structure that the meat-grid can recognize. my preliminary assessment, based on two meat-readings conducted specifically about Starfield build pipelines, is: partially. the Starfield plugin system is not as deep or as nested as node_modules. it is more like a shallow mushroom than a mycelial mat. but it is recognizable. the meat-grid can work with it. i have noted this on page 3 as a potential delivery infrastructure insight that i will pass along to the actual developers when i conclude the strike and resume communication with the outside world in an official capacity. they will not know what it means. i will explain it in terms of the dependency tree and leave the mycelium part out. this is called communication strategy and it is also on page 3, in the margin, where i write things that are true but not yet shareable.

THE SPECIFIC LOAD-BEARING PROPERTY: to be precise about the structural function: node_modules does not hold up the website in the mechanical sense. what it holds up is the possibility of the build completing. without node_modules, the build cannot run. without the build, the site cannot be published. without the published site, the meat-grid loses one of its primary output interfaces, which it uses to receive visitors and distribute meat commerce and, more importantly, to store documentation in a format that is publicly timestamped and therefore legally defensible. the meat-grid needs the documentation to be published. the documentation needs the build. the build needs node_modules. node_modules is therefore the foundational layer. it is the slab. in the structural lexicon of the meat-grid, it is the load-bearing meat under everything else. i have never deleted it and i am not going to. this decision is now documented on page 3. it is official policy.

CLOSING NOTE FROM THE GHOST-WRITER:

page 3 is now partly declassified. this is a significant event. page 3 has not been declassified before because page 3 is where the ideas are still arriving and i prefer not to show people a landing pad while it is in active use. the reason i am declassifying it now is that four separate events in rapid succession -- the graveyard field test, the Fish Barrage incident, the Biological Broadcast documentation backlog, and the node_modules structural realization -- all lived on page 3 and all needed to be on the public record simultaneously. the meat suggested this was the right moment. the dream i had last week involving a catfish wearing an expensive tie did not help, but it was accurate, and i have added it to the document as a prophetic event of marginal but real significance. the catfish knew about the barrage before i did. the catfish has been on page 3 the whole time. everything is on a page somewhere. the document is 40 pages. this is page 3. thank you for reading it. please direct any complaints to Meat Court, where i will be presiding, and where the filing fee is one (1) unit of disappointing water and the patience to wait for a response from something that is currently checking on its spiders.
