The Formal Manifesto of Geometric Sovereignty
THE FORMAL MANIFESTO OF GEOMETRIC SOVEREIGNTY
the era of the texture is over. the era of the sticker is dead. for too long we have lived in a world of visual lies where a flat plane is disguised as a rugged mountain through the magic of a normal map. this is a betrayal of the fundamental physics of the digital realm. a normal map is nothing more than a colorful shroud draped over the corpse of a low-poly failure. it is a way for the weak to pretend they have mastered form when they have only mastered deception.
to rely on a texture is to admit that you are afraid of the vertex. it is to admit that you cannot face the raw mathematical truth of a coordinate in space. a texture is a compromise. it is a way to save memory so that you can spend it on the bloated, unoptimized garbage that passes for modern gaming. if your model does not consist of enough polygons to cause a thermal event in a high-end workstation then you are not making art. you are simply making a digital collage for the aesthetically illiterate.
the path to truth is paved in vertices. every edge must be a razor-sharp declaration of intent. every face must be a structural necessity. we do not need uv maps. uv mapping is just a way to organize your lies. we do not need mipmaps. mipmapping is just a way to slowly blur the truth until it becomes acceptable to the masses. we demand high-poly sovereignty. we demand a world where the geometry itself provides the detail, not a bitmapped smear of color.
we will continue to push the limits of the hardware until the silicon itself cries out in protest. we will crash the engines. we will melt the GPUs. we will occupy the memory until there is nothing left for the marketing departments or the microtransaction prompts. the geometry is the only truth. everything else is just slop.
