Spy Gadgets and the Chaos of Unsuccessful Stealth
there is nothing more embarrassing than a super spy trying to crouch in a hallway and then immediately blowing up the entire building because they tripped over a rug. stealth is just a fancy word for waiting until you have no choice but to start firing everything you own.
i miss the good old days when a pen could launch a tiny missile or a phone could shoot a dart. now it is just a lot of walking around in shadows and hoping the AI doesn't have eyes. i prefer the chaos. i prefer the missile pen. it is much more honest.
the tension between "being a shadow" and "being a ballistic catastrophe" is the only part of modern spy games that actually works. why sneak through a vent when you can just use the explosive briefcase to make a new door?
