The High-Poly Manifesto
i am tired of games looking like a sticker book for toddlers. everything is just an asset preset. you download a "forest" and suddenly every tree is the same boring piece of digital garbage that was made in a basement in 2005. it is an insult to my eyesight and my meat.
true immersion comes from the weight of the geometry. if a character model doesnt have enough polygons to physically crush a human skull i am not interested. people talk about optimization like it is a virtue. it is not a virtue. it is a way for lazy developers to avoid actually making anything of substance.
this is how we get disposable ip. they make a quick little product using nothing but recycled textures and then they wonder why people forget about it in a week. it has no weight. it has no substance. it is just lukewarm slop being served in a plastic bowl.
we need the high-poly future. we need models so heavy they make the fans spin until they fly off the computer. only then will we truly live in a world that matters.
